We took everything from these indians, now we’re taking all their magic cacti so they can’t commune with drug-induced Jesus ( the “J” is silent)

They found an anonymous racist Indian and wrote an article about it.

“””””Under US federal law, mescaline is a controlled substance, but a 1994 exemption to the American Indian Religious Freedom Act made it legal for Native Americans to use”””””

Clinton created a lot of new racist stuff.

She’s right. White people shouldn’t mess with it. Neither should any other color of people.

So are they going to pass on the benefits of Western tech and culture as well?

I’m going to take the other dude if this. I’m sure fakers join in to get stoned, but peyote is a real aspect of some native American religions, comparable to wine in Christian churches. During prohibition sacred wine was exempt, but the Feds banned Peyote and then in a devastating blow to religious liberty, Scalia wrote the opinion upholding Federal interference in religion if it is facially neutral.

We conservatives should look for opportunities to build bridges. Some polls say native Americans voted the most pro Trump of any racial group. It would be nice to support them in something that is, for them, genuinely conservative.

IMHO, Hispanic is a misnomer. I’d venture those labelled as such have more Amerindian genetics than Spanish.

Nope, it is a,product of the earth, not meant for any 1 group! If Indians can use it for ritual reasons, the so can’t anyone else if they have a mind to. Just because someone is of Indian descent doesn’t mean the plant was created exclusively for them! Pretty greedy and selfish of them to claim its only for them. Now, if they wanna plant farms of it privately, then yeah, they can ban anyone they like from partaking of private produce- u til then though, nope, it is not THEIR own private stash

“Psychedelic Cactus” - sounds like a good name for a rock band, to paraphrase Dave Barry.

Anyone who has interacted with real New Mexico Native Americans (as distinguished from the pathetic potted plants one sees sitting cross legged in front of the council house on a reservation) knows that the last thing these easily addicted and violent folks need is psychedelics to liven up their already anti social behavior.

The tribes used to have their young men go up into a mountain, starve themselves till they see a “hallucination vision”. From it they would get their totem animal, name and what items to put in their medicine bag.
Then they found the White Man had all the visions necessary kept in a bottle and for a few skins you could get a bottle of it.
Now they have peyote.

When I was at Occidental College, all humanities majors had to take a course in anthropology which was taught by a young professor who was enamored with The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge by Carlos Castaneda (Berkeley, Calif.: University of California Press, 1968), which sang praises of peyote and its wonderful effects. The professor even devoted a whole unit to this book and assigned us to write an essay as to how psychotropic drugs such as peyote could improve society.

Carlos Castaneda was later exposed as a fraud, and this and other books that he wrote are essentially fiction.

Make them legal to grow and cactus growers would develop a type which could grow six to eight times faster.
