It was beautiful 25 years ago when I visited, but they made their own fate, by voting for democrats.

Because of these wildfires the real estate market in that part of California is destined for a monster reset......and not in a good way.

The area was once Red. In 1976 it sent B-1 Bob Dornan to Congress, but Ted Lieu, one of the bluest Democrats, now represents the district.

I lived in Brentwood, not too far from the Palisades. I determined if I ever became wealthy enough I’d move there, but it never happened. I just loved the area.

The entire area is breathtakingly beautiful - why so many celebrities have moved in. My sister lived there in the mid-80s when the area was more affordable, she had kick-a** views up and down the coast from her ho-hum, ordinary home. House exploded in value in just a few years and she and ex- made a lot of money when the home was sold because of divorce.

She says she’d wished she’d bought him out at the time, now it is prohibitively expensive to live there - and now they have the coming headache of fighting the insurance companies (if they have insurance), the anti-development California Coastal Commission and every other regulation, tax and burden the state can throw at them.
