Plastics are derived from the petro-chem industry.
Petroleum bad.
All homes, restaurants, delis and butcher shops use plastic or derivatives of plastics in the manufacturing of plastic cutting boards and butcher blocks that are used to coat them. Every time meats, breads and veggies are cut, small particles of plastics are integrated into the products where the sharp edges of the instrument strikes the surface of the board. This fact could explain how microscopic particles of plastics are introduced into the food supplies. Maybe the Dept. of Consumer Goods could do studies in this area to resolve this issue.
