Fusion is only 20 years away! It has become somewhat of a joke as the actual amount of years keeps getting pushed into the future. Gravity Wave Detectors had a similar history. Einstein thought they would never directly detect them. The good news is that since 2015 they have and over 200 events have been detected so far.
