I’m near Louisville.
We have about 3 inches already and it’s supposed to change to freezing rain in several hours. Could end up with 1/2 inch of ice and 1/2 foot of snow.🥶.
For us that’s a LOT. We had a 9 inch snow in about 2017 but It was mostly melted by noon the next day. This one will not do that, they are forecasting below freezing temps for about a week.
The last really bad winter we had was 2013 (if I remember correctly).
Family near Lexington. Getting gritty already. Candles and blankets in place.
I’m in central Indiana west of Indy. The winter of 2013-2014 was our first in this house, and the most snow we’ve encountered since our move. We had over 50” of snow collectively that season, a busted pipe, power outages for days.
We only had two snow shovels to our names to help us through that. Neighbors pitched in when it was coming down faster than we could shovel.
We bought a generator, and the next Christmas, a snow blower. Have used both pretty regularly in the winter.
So far we still have power, but things are just getting started. I hope it stays snow and doesn’t get to ice after that.
“”The last really bad winter we had was 2013 (if I remember correctly).””
WHO among us is able to do that?
We lived in Wyoming for six years.
There are two seasons there: winter and the Fourth of July.
Thirty years ago or so, this wouldn’t even be a blip on anyone’s radar.
If you see the weather maps compared to the exact date 30-40 yrs ago, winter weather and summer heat were just ordinary days and not something to tell children they are going to die in ten years over.
