Teamsters Union President Sean O’Brien says the H-1B visa program “displaces” Americans from their jobs while allowing billionaires at the top of corporations to exploit foreign workers.
Amid debate regarding the H-1B visa program, which allows companies to import hundreds of thousands of foreign workers, primarily from India, to take white-collar American jobs, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) blasted the program as nothing more than an outsourcing scheme.

The layoffs affected every department but were particularly concentrated in Tesla’s operations in Texas and California, where the company has the largest number of employees.

One of the oddest things that I see people do is to think that rich people don’t care about money, even billionaires.
People often say that someone is immune to greed because they are so rich, and they say that even about people who count their millions by the thousands, which some of us think is a pretty good indication that someone is obsessed with money rather than indifferent to it.
I can tell you from personal observation foreign men drive a worrisome proportion of those 80,000 pound tractor-trailers. And many can not read simple traffic signs. But they all have cellphones to get directions IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE where to pickup the next load.
Many know only “pickup” and “where dock” in English. Some literally stink because their native culture didnt emphasize cleanliness.
All due to greedy brokers,shippers,trucking companies that do not want to pay a living wage.

The post is about foreign workers and more than tech workers. They’re being allowed to take over jobs so companies and WallSt can make more money at the expense of American workers.
When a builder hires crews of Mexicans to build homes for much less than crews of American contractors, do they lower the home prices? No.
I watched subcontractors get run out of work because of immigrants. A good friend, who is a contractor, fights tooth and nail to get work.
And of course, you don’t look any further than what’s right in front of you and all the sexmcknd, third, fourth effects of these visas and immigration.

Our country is getting destroyed by both illegal and legal immigration. They are both equally pernicious and I want both to stay in the spotlight. However, the H-1B’s were never even really seen as a national crisis until recently and I have seen people personally displaced by H-1B’s as I am in IT. Why are you trying to minimize it?
The big issue for SpaceX is ITAR, not security clearances. I’d hazard to say only a few percent of SpaceX employees need clearances.
ITAR require US persons to work on projects. This can include green card holders.
I read thru my initial comment. I didn’t bring up SpaceX.
I have and have had clearances. ITAR is about sending “sensitive” information out of the country or to a foreign nation that isn’t “cleared” by the government/state dept. At least that’s the gist of all the power point training I’ve done over the year.
You’re right, you didn’t mention SpaceX; it was another poster. ITAR is in effect for all launches.
Both security clearances and ITAR significantly minimumize the use of foreign nationals that can be used on projects.
