Winter storm Blair forecast places 60 million Americans under weather alerts with nearly two feet of snow predicted

Nearly 60 million Americans are under weather threat alerts as a monstrous winter storm gears up to slam parts of the country with heavy snow and debilitating ice.

Weather experts forecast that impending winter storm Blair will affect sweep across the Great Plains and the Northeast this weekend into early next week, affecting cities such as Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Kansas City, Omaha, St. Louis and Indianapolis.

Forecasters predict that the Rocky Mountain region as well as the Central and Northern Plains areas will be hit by heavy snow, strong winds and freezing rain.

'The storm is shaping up to be the first widespread cross-country winter storm of the season for the central and eastern United States and will negatively affect travel during the final days of the holiday break,' AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.

Residents in Wichita, Kansas City and Omaha can expect blizzard-like conditions due to heavy snow and strong winds.

'A wintry mix could start as early as this afternoon and transition to snow Sunday afternoon,' the National Weather Service field office in Kansas City said on X.

'Wind gusts around 35-40 mph on Sunday could yield possible blizzard conditions.'

Over time, the hefty winter storm is expected to shift toward the Missouri region, whose residents should expect similar, hazardous conditions.

Androgynous “Blair.” Is it a feminine storm? Or a soy boy storm?

Agreed.

Power outages due to icing can be widespread and last for days.
Literally tons of ice can cling ho wires and cables causing breaks.
Ice on roads mean many vehicle sliding off, delays for emergency response.

4 wheel drive is very useful for snow but 4 wheels will slide on ice as easily as 2.

Power loss often means no heat as well.Another factor against the insane push for all electric everything.

Kerosene and propane heaters in good working order and a week’s worth of fuel is just prudent.Extra flashlight batteries, and battery powered am/fm(shortwave?) radio.

People who ridicule being prepared are ignorant.

Bread is in the freezer....as usual....soups on the stove....as usual....Half and half...three cartons...good until Feb 28th.

Why does everyone act like winter is something new...and they do it every year...

It's the power outages that get you.

More people are buying generators these days.

Based on the weather maps, this storm just got a whole lot worse and much bigger than originally forecast. There are blizzard warnings up for parts of the US and a HUGE swath of icing and freezing precipitation forecast.

I wish these left-wing moonbats would knock it off with the naming of winter storms.

It’s just that, SACA, we have had abnormally warm weather these past few weeks, we have NOT had bad weather involving snow or ice for quite a while and add that I am a widow and getting used to all this.

My daughter lives with me and this is a big help. I am 74 years old with bad circulation but relatively healthy.

I shall keep checking in. Such as storms and such are really no longer as bad as they once were but witness the hurricane recently in North Carolina and shut my mouth.

But all is fiine and the Ravens are winning against Cleveland as it was meant.

Insert wink here.

We’re prepped for every winter, but I still appreciate the warning because it allows us to make sure we have enough firewood in the house and top off the generator so we don’t need to do it in the teeth of a storm.

We also get the cars tucked out of the way so as to make clean up easier.

We lose power pretty regularly here so if there’s a storm like this coming, I also make sure all the laundry is done and there’s enough food cooked for leftovers.

The ice storm warnings cover the whole midsection of the country from the coast to the Rockies.

And the winds are incredibly strong.

People will lose power in this and if the icing is bad enough and the temperatures don’t warm up, it’s not going to melt and clean up will be miserable.

Appropriate that the “snowflake” generation has begun to name winter snowstorms.

Snow is one thing.

Ice is a whole different critter.

I’ve driven in can’t see the road conditions plenty of times but ice only once and learned my lesson.

Ice is nothing to mess with.

I just saw them back up to $6.99-7.99/doz here, due to all the Avian Flu outbreaks in massive grower flocks, now being destroyed. Damn.

That’s the forecast.

How does reporting it make the writer crappy?

They are the worse.
