Another anomaly in the reporting is that “some” (other reports say entire crew) were wearing ‘night vision goggles’ (NVG).
That doesn’t pass the smell test -for me- because NVG amplify the available reflected light in order to image targets.
In that specific environment, the light saturation would have blinded anyone using NVG.
You would think so, but it isn't so.
