Maybe it depends upon where you get your CAC card issued from, but it used to be a requirement for a face to be “clean shaven” i.e. no beards to have a picture taken. There were exceptions for medical of religious reasons.
Moustaches were okay.
Maybe the rules have changed. Just wondering.

Special Forces personnel often receive certain liberties that the garrison troops are denied. Perhaps, this is also extended to SF in regards to their CAC cards.
Beards downrange were seen as a bridge to the head choppers culture and to win some of them over to our side.
Especially common with top tier operators...
Had heard that Operators, when in theater, stowed their ID card in their boot/footwear.
