A young North Carolina woman was doused in gasoline and set on fire by a sick suspect who then fled — leaving her heartbroken mother wondering, “How could they do this to my baby?”
Ashanti Downey, 20, was rushed to the emergency room the night of Dec. 16 with second-and third-degree burns down the right side of her body, according to WRAL News in Raleigh-Durham.
Staffers at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford called the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office at about 7 p.m. to report the horrific act, which happened as Downey walked along Highway 27 toward a Dollar General in the same town.
That’s when an unidentified man came up behind her, dumped gas all over her and lit a cigarette that sparked the blaze, Downey told investigators.

I have no idea why this happened......I’ll say this though, it wouldn’t be the 1st time a black man has set a black female on fire as punishment......many times because the female wants to leave the relationship and the male does the unthinkable as payback.
I’ve seen it happen right here in my town at least twice.
Even carrying it would be hard to respond in time if you were assaulted by 3 individuals with a bucket of gas & a lighter sneaking up behind you.
That being said, this kind of thing is like being struck by lightning. Not very likely to happen. Unless lots of nutters decide this is fun, like punching unsuspecting people on the street.
Time for eye-for-an-eye type of punishment. Most of these illegals would be thrilled with violence all around them, a bed and 3 square meals a day. Prison would be a luxurious punishment. Getting gasoline thrown on them, then a lighted match just might keep some from doing it. With the illegals coming to us, prison time is not a punishment.
Does Dollar General have video of the incident ?
In today’s environment, these three assailants were recorded somewhere, the store , parking lot, etc.
Tracking phones could be another possibility.
Curious to see if they will be caught.

That’s creepy. The neighbor has an unhealthy fixation on you and what you do each day. Good decision to conceal carry.
All our neighbors live on 5+ acres and the tracts of land are all wooded. Our piece of property is a bit bigger so we are separated from others by plenty of land. We pretty much stay out of each other’s business which makes for good relationships. About the worst aggravation I have is when the neighbors don’t keep their dogs up and they come to my house to eat the cat food from the cats’ dish on the porch. Hubby just walks the dog home and reminds them to try to do better.
We have a long driveway and occasionally a ner-do-well, would drive down our way looking for what they could find. So, we finally installed a gate. For some reason meth-heads from out of the area think a wooded place with a long drive-way means idiots own the property. LOL! We still conceal carry around our place. You never know when a dangerous creature will show up, whether it be 2-legged or four.

It’s getting to the point now you only carry a gun when you are alone or with someone, period.

I can understand the silence to some degree if a bunch of thugs shoot one another in a small time drug rip.
