Trump’s Ukraine-Russia envoy slams Kremlin’s Christmas Day attack

President-elect Trump’s choice for special envoy to Ukraine and Russia, retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, slammed the Russian military missile and drone attack on Christmas Day and said the U.S. is “more resolved than ever to bring peace to the region.”

“Christmas should be a time of peace, yet Ukraine was brutally attacked on Christmas Day,” Kellogg wrote Wednesday on social platform X. “Launching large-scale missile and drone attacks on the day of the Lord’s birth is wrong. The world is closely watching actions on both sides. The U.S. is more resolved than ever to bring peace to the region.”

Sigh....

It depends…did the CIA conduct a color revolution to overthrow the Government and place a puppet leader in all 6 nations?

Says one obviously not old enough to have done "Duck and Cover" drills in elementary school.

We kept the peace with the Soviet Union in the Cold War by staying out of each other’s backyards. NATO on Russia’s borders is exactly what we said we wouldn’t do

Your post makes no sense. Why would Freepers be negative about what day anyone celebrated Christmas, whether Orthodox or Catholic or Baptist or whatever? No one ever claimed they were, certainly I did not claim any such thing.

Orthodox who celebrate “our” Christmas? Well, the Orthodox and Catholic and Protestant Churches all agree that Christmas, or the Feast of the Nativity, falls on December 25th. The difference is which calendar is used. The Orthodox Julian December 25 happens to fall on “our” Gregorian January 7 nowadays.

The Greek Orthodox (with some exceptions) switched over to the Gregorian calendar back in the 1920s. The Georgian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian (in alphabetical order) and other Eastern Orthodox Churches did not. They continue to celebrate Christmas on “our” Jan. 7.

That is, until Zelensky decreed Christmas would henceforth be celebrated on December 25 last year. Yes, in 2023, for the first time in history going all the way back to the 10th century, Ukraine celebrated Christmas on Dec. 25th. I guess he figured if Henry VIII could appoint himself head of the Church of England ...

Personally, I don’t care which calendar a church chooses to use. You seem to think others should be “more like us”.

It is a fake account, he didn’t have a 12 year break, all of his posts have been made in 2 short bursts.

His postings were all done in a 17 day period in November of 2012, and then this second burst of 18 days in December of 2024, that is his entire history.

“””Your post makes no sense. Why would Freepers be negative about what day anyone celebrated Christmas”””

Exactly, and that is what I am pointing out, the attacks and negativity came only when it was seen as a slight to Russia because the country that America and our allies support as Putin invades them has adopted the same day as many other Orthodox and the rest of Christianity.

Look at your own negative critical post that reveals you suddenly care very much what date is used.

“”””We kept the peace with the Soviet Union in the Cold War by staying out of each other’s backyards. “”””

Tell that to the many, many, 10s of thousands of Americans who died during that Cold War, and we never gave Russia control over who joins NATO, quit making that bizarre claim.

Russia is a sovereign nation. It has the right to protect itself. What gave the US the right to invade Vietnam, or demand the USSR remove nuclear weapons from Cuba? Are you unaware that nations can go to war to defend themselves against hostile forces. NATO is clearly a hostile force. Russia is acting perfectly in its own self interest.

I agree with your assessments. Trump has set the stage for a war within his own cabinet. Seems like a dumb way to go about things with half aligned with one side and half with the other in a war.

Most of Europe - Germany, UK, France, Belgium, Ireland - are either communist or hard socialist. Putin is fine with alienating such foolish leaders.
