Did he really say this? If so he needs to stop with the crazy talk. If it’s a troll it’s not funny.Trump is always negotiating. Do you know his reasons for what he said.
Just guessing about Trump's reasons but here are 2 possibilities:
- Greenland is rich in rare earth elements (REEs), which are critical for high-tech industries (think AI) and defense.
- China is busy establishing a footprint in Greenland. Chinese companies have attempted to invest in mining projects in Greenland, such as the Kvanefjeld rare earth and uranium mine. These efforts are part of China's broader strategy to dominate the global rare earth supply chain.

Taken along with Trump’s trolling on Canada becoming part of America and now wanting Greenland as an “absolute necessity” it could be interpreted as a threat. I doubt Denmark will appreciate being pressured to sell it as it is their largest landmass. His comments are very expansionist.
