DEC was not even that late, but so many came into the market. I worked a lot on DEC products (mainframe and mini) from 1974 for about 10 years.

DEC had a nice PC that seemed to debut not that long after IBM’s solidified as a thing, but other companies were also coming out with PCs, and DEC’s was expensive. I really thought it would take off. I was mad that it did not take off because I really liked DEC.

That nasty PC killed all of the minicomputers. It also killed the best microprocessor of them all: Motorola 68000 family.
