So many of us Generation X code jockeys say our careers begin wbefore we were old enough to drive and making a hobby out of programming either a C-64, an Atari 400 or 800, or a Tandy TRS-80 (Trash 80 we called them). I've heard only a couple of them say they started out on a Mac.

My college roommate was convinced that Commodore would run off all competitors and dominate the market.
I started out in high school on a slightly out-of-date Commodore SuperPET 9000. It was apparently one of the best computers for that type of use because it was the only widely available low-cost computer that allowed users to run programs directly in Pascal without using a compiler.
I consider the Macintosh to be the very best—especially for non-computer geeks like me.
I started using the Mac in 1984, and have used newer Mac models ever since. I’ve used the IBM PC—with difficulty—on consulting sites that used PCs.
I’m a super-inventive PhD molecular/cell biologist (with paper and patents to prove it)—not a super computer geek!
