Luigi Mangione is now in New York to face charges over the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on December 4. Mangione has been formally charged in the murder, where he reportedly shot and killed Thompson in the early morning hours outside of the New York Hilton Midtown before an investor’s meeting. Thompson was shot multiple times with a suppressed, mostly 3D-printed firearm. He’s facing over a dozen state and federal charges regarding this crime. The latest federal charges make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted

Lots of charges. Lots of laws. Justice? It’s horrific that Brian Thompson never had a chance to defend himself. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP, sir.
“”The federal criminal complaint against the suspect, Luigi Mangione, 26, includes one count of using a firearm to commit murder, which carries a maximum potential sentence of death.”
Interesting, a federal law that can bring a death penalty to ANY MURDER in any state as long as a gun is used, even in deep blue New York. So does that mean Cash Patel or his boss could re-assign all of the agents and prosecutors who are currently assigned to go after moms who speak up at school board meetings - to instead prosecute murderers in LaHood and tell the Soros DAs to pound sand?
“”ATF has the lead, if they want it.””
HA - have you ever known the ATF to back away from headlines? I remember when they were BATF and coming down on individuals or sellers for whatever violation they THOUGHT was taking place...Something about a “sear” controversy they ginned up way back in the late ‘80’s or early ‘90’s? Sorry - memory grows dimmer every year.....
*** Oh, and who goes to the trouble to make a pistol and doesn’t ditch it after the crime? This stinks to high heaven.***
The only thing I can think of is someone who intends to murder a few more people.
If so, how can a state outlaw the possession of 80% lower receiver firearms?
I thought that carrying the weapon across state lines would make it a federal crime. No?
Or a schizophrenic with delusions.
They aren’t going to execute this kid. He’s going to get the Hinkley treatment and do his time in a mental institution.
“”I thought that carrying the weapon across state lines would make it a federal crime. No?””
Beats me. Maybe you’re thinking of the Sullivan law...Don’t know if that’s still in effect....I think that was exclusive to NY state.
Exactly.
Chamber of Commerce types hate it when a prominent citizen is murdered in a tourist area in broad daylight—and it is caught on camera and shown all over the world.
They could not care less if it happens to a low level drug dealer after midnight in the ghetto.
no they’re not. Prior to 1968, serial numbers where not even required on long guns, and they’re not required on home made guns either. I have several examples of both in my collection
This piece of human debris MURDERED someone in cold blood ON A CAMERA. He should be tried, and executed swiftly.
Puhleez....”murderer” not “shooter”
I should have clarified, firearms without a serial #, used in a crime. Somewhere under Homeland Security, they have jurisdiction.
Luigi’s lawyer complained that the additional Fed charges are ‘piling on’.
I can’t help but think the feds are overcharging him and purposely making a mess of this prosecution so he gets acquitted. He is going to have a jury of his marxist America hating peers. He is a hero of the Obama revolution. No New Yuck jury would dare find him guilty.
All it’s gonna take is one minority ticked off about the Daniel Penny verdict to hang it and he’s free unless moron Bragg would want to retry hi..
“ I just don’t know what is going on. ”
I do.
This evil thug murdered someone.
He’s pretty much confessed.
Let’s not throw out conspiracy theories to muddy the waters
WHEN IS THE LAST TIME NY ACTUALLY EXECUTE SOMEONE.
I doubt he would get the death penalty if convicted. The Feds may hold that over his head during plea negotiations. What is really odd is NY and the Feds haven't agreed how to proceed with the case. Are the Feds worried that Bragg's DA office would likely mess up a seemingly easy case? My guess is his lawyers will recommend a plea deal with life without parol or possible parol way into the future at a regular prison. That would sure beat being going to a supermax prison for the rest of life..
The federal government has no police powers under the Constitution. It was invented by the SCOTUS. I’d abolish all of those laws.
Crimes like murder, theft, etc. are already covered by State law, we don’t need a federal law against murder.
