Like so many here I'd love to see Dan Bongino get that spot.

Secret Service Deputy Director Ronald Rowe will temporarily serve as the agency’s leader after Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following widespread criticism after an attempted assassination against former President Donald Trump.
Cheatle announced her resignation amid bipartisan calls for her to step down following a contentious hearing with the House Oversight Committee on Monday about the shooting at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
Lawmakers accused her of not answering their questions about how gunman Matthew Thomas Crooks was able to fire shots at the rally, grazing Trump’s ear and killing one other rallygoer.
“I take full responsibility for the security lapse. In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your director,” she said in the resignation letter, according to the AP.
Anyway, a temp appt that Trump can take care of any time.
He was lead on the presidential detail many times.
He’s qualified.
Bongino doesn’t want the job. He’d be happy to be part of a committee to look into the recent systemic failures at the Secret Service and it’s senior staff, but he does not want to give up his daily radio gig and his stake in Rumble.com for a full time government position.
...Plus, Bongino has just recently moved into a new home...
Dan is more valuable to Trump behind the Mike, than working for him
Good analysis. Succinct and easy to understand.
Nobody wants to assign people to the Bidens wait until he is in office and the assignments are done. Who knows where the Bidens will end up.
“Bongino has just recently moved into a new home...”
I didn’t see how that would make a difference. All of his Cabinet picks have homes already.
I think DB would be great, but he is so effective doing what he does.
PDJT is between a rock and a hard place. If he doesn’t choose the guy who guards him now, that guy could not be so diligent 😉 in guarding him.
We have plenty of people doing podcasts.
Yes, plenty of useless podcasts who draw conclusions, but have no sources on the inside to get at greater truths.
Make one of them the head of the secret service. :)
Probably because he will use his own security team, like he did last time.
I think your answer is correct and I’ve heard the same from a good source before. Waiting until the inauguration or just after is a better bet because the present people want to keep their jobs and are working hard (now).
...“don’t know if Bongino has sufficient administrative experience and skills”
First off, Dan Bongino has a solid record of professional achievement in highly visible & accountable positions.
That said, I believe his seat at the table is not in upper management or an executive position.
His radio voice & persona is that of gerbil on speed or an argumentative Times Square street pitchman.
Such a persona entangles his well reasoned thought in the debris of an ill-considered delivery.
The director of the secret service is an appointed position but does not require senate confirmation so I don’t think it requires as much lead time.
Tell me you have never listened to Dan without telling me you have never listened
He brings receipts and is generally 2-4 weeks ahead of everyone else.

Bongino’s three-hour radio show isn’t all that great. Sometimes he speaks into the microphone. Sometimes he whispers to the floor.
He’s also writing (and reading) notes as he delivers a distracted rant. There’s no chance he’d be a Rush replacement.
Bongino’s podcast—immune from FCC rules—is loaded with “NYC- street” filthy language; I listen, but it’s cringeworthy during each minute of broadcast. (Sometimes he apologizes, but he’s worse than Rogan).
I won’t miss him if he joins Trump’s SS, and may be the best option for both patriots!

We seem to mostly agree...
