LOL!
Maybe it’s time to put the old Dumont out to pasture.
I thought this would have to do with Elvis Presley shooting TV sets.
I set a box of old Popular Mechanics magazines at the curb, no one took them. I taped it shut good and wrote “Old Playboys” on the box and it was gone in an hour.
People say our little town is crooked and full of druggies, but we have never had a porch pirate, and we get a lot of Amazon deliveries, and due to logistics, sometimes big packages get left on the porch for some time.
Got some old NTSC CRT tv’s in the basement. Rigged a transmitter so they can still be watched.
Finally, I can retire my 19” RCA tv.
This plan is not recommended for any CA residents since the value of the stolen item is under $1,000.
Lol.
Entertaining, but they know where you live.
Brilliant! Now I how to clean out the basement!
Only thing better would be to include anout 1/2 kilo of C4 set with a geofenced fuse set to go off 1/2 mile down the road.
Some late model CRT TVs can fetch $$$, especially Sony’s with Trinitron picture tubes and component and composite AV inputs.
These are highly desirable in the retro-gaming community.
Works for cat litter, used pampers and personal hygiene items too.
Ha. I used to have a computer business in my old warbox house in North Hollywood. Mildly sketchy neighborhood. When I had received a large shipment of gear, it would often spill out of my garage and onto the driveway. I never had any stuff stolen. But often, I would seal a bunch of crap I wanted to get rid of in a cardboard box and write “VCRs” on the side. Gone the next day, without fail.
Now then, my dad has three Hallicrafter shortwave radios - two work and the other is good for parts; from the early Fifties era.
Guess I’ll have to figure out how to squeeze an old tube-type into a flat-screen box. Maybe judicious use of a sledgehammer. I think the weight May give it away. Well, and the clatter of broken glass and parts.
Don’t think it would quite work withy my 250lb Sony KD34xbr960 34” HD CRT tv
How’s that any different than the delivery guys trucking a gun safe in the front door after unboxing it on the front lawn?
