The Diversity Grants will be open to underrepresented, diverse people who have an interest in the horror writing genre, including, but not limited to writers, editors, reviewers, and library workers. Like the Diverse Works Inclusion Committee, the Diversity Grants have adopted the broadest definition of the word diversity to include, but not limited to, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabled, and neurodiverse.
The Horror Writers Association (HWA) believes barriers—often unseen but very real—exist which limit the amount of horror fiction being published by diverse voices. The goal of these Grants is to help remove some of the barriers and let those voices be heard.
The HWA will award four (4) grants. Additional grants will be awarded, depending upon funds donated..
Thanks to the generosity of multiple donors, each Grant is worth $500 and may be spent on approved expenses for a period of two (2) years following the awarding of the Grant.
A sub-committee of the HWA Board—consisting of four (4) HWA member volunteers and chaired by a HWA Board member—will collect the applicants’ information, verify it, and choose the winners.

Thankfully, the Horror Writers Association is trying to rectify that by subsidizing more diversity.
What idiocy
What the hell does that mean? White people represent approximately 11 percent of global population.
Yes, very.
That’s true.
Yeah, take your degree (B,M, PhD) in Diversity studies and try and get a job somewhere in the work force.
“neurodiverse”
Another lefty word to learn—these folks move fast.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurodiversity
“The word neurodiversity first appeared in publication in 1998”
So—if I get this right—if I scream and yell incoherently at the grant award folks that will qualify me as “neurodiverse”.
Lol.
Sounds like there is no government money involved, that it is all from private donations. As long as no tax money is involved, I would say that they can give their money to whoever they want to, using whatever standards they set. If the donators don’t like it, or they’ve misrepresented how they would going to disburse the funds, take ‘em to court to get your money back. An arrangement like this has nothing to do with me at all.
And, for a whole $2000 total for the four grants, it sounds like they didn’t get much in the way of donations either.
If they are a non-profit their tax exempt status should be revoked for blatant anti-white racism.
hey, write about what you know
No body gives a crap who the author of a book is. All they care about is whether or not the story is good. If there aren’t “enough” (whatever that means) “neurodiverse” horror writers, it’s because there aren’t enough “neurodiverse” people writing horror that is worth a crap.
Some historians speculate that Lovecraft was autistic.
Yeah, but we’re required to hate Lovecraft because he was a racist.
Ah, @#($*&&(!!! The HWA is following SFWA down the road into stupidity and irrelevance. The problem isn’t the lack of diverse voices who want to write. It’s the lack of readers who want to spend money to listen to these diverse voices whining about their personal problems instead of telling good stories.
Cultural Marxism is a true horror. Sadly, it is the dominant faith in the West
