If dad’s a citizen his natural children are also.
That’s what I don’t understand about the article. If the father is a citizen, at least two of the children (maybe more) are not ‘anchor babies’ but actual citizens. (Two of them are apparently only four months old.)
...but if the mother is not a citizen, and she wants to take them with her when she's deported - adios. "Vuelve cuando tiene dieciocho anos." (Come back when you're eighteen years old).

They're four month old twins. They need to be with their mother.
Their court hearing was an opportunity to plead this argument. They didn't bother showing up.
And I wouldn't be surprised to see this story quietly amended in the near future to change dad from "U.S. Citizen" to "legal resident."
