I had been considering a Subaru Crosstrek, but all Subarus now have CVTs. No sale.
I had to look for a “new” car in 2023 then again after that car that I purchased in 2023 was totaled by a hit and run this past summer. Both times I stuck with Honda. 2009 then 2013 CRVs. Upon doing research I learned to avoid the CVTs. I totally scratched Subarus and Nissans off my list.
CVT transmissions are on my dealbreaker list should I decide to replace my ‘03 Civic with 206K. Another would be any engine with wet timing belts, an engineering idiocy, as many owners are finding out. Third would be any car with touchscreens. I love my i pad, but it doesn’t belong on a dashboard. The Civic may very well be the last car I ever own.
