Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you...

And much less frequently you get the bear and the bear gets you.

That’s a pretty small bear!

If was still more weight than he could bear.

Bear can also be stalked, then you can shoot them like deer or pigs. Just make sure the spices complement the meat, otherwise the taste isn’t right.

Some areas need to control bear numbers as bears often have 3 cubs at a time causing overpopulation.

I completely agree on controlling predators, both by keeping their numbers at a reasonable level, and instilling in them a fear of man and dogs.

Out-of-State money came into Oregon to ban the hunting of bear and cougar with dogs (and bait, in the case if bears). It’s been devastating for the deer and elk populations. And then some genius brings in wolves....

You have no clue about hunting bears or bear hunting.

I know enough that exhausting a bear with hounds and treeing it is not a sport. I also know that standing under a bear in a tree is not a good idea. But of course, I have the advantage over you by possessing a Y chromosome.

Like your tagline.
I would guess it might be more sporting to be able to capture the bear in a safe manner, and send it to a wildlife preserve or a DNA/genome repository, or a zoo somewhere. Killing a treed bear with a high powered rifle is much easier, almost unfair.. However, I would think that if bear killed a human being, or unnecessarily attacked humans, or was eaten by hungry, starving people it would be ok to kill the bear...
IMHO....flames accepted.

Having been on dozens of hound bear chases.

Having hunted bears for over 50 years.

I have a bit more clue then you.

If you would have read the whole article.

You might understand what went on.

Bears taste really good and make nice hides/rugs.

Do not know of any way to eat a bear when it is alive.

How do you capture a bear in a safe manner.

Then safe for who you or the bear.

Some where over 50,000 bears are killed each year.

Where are you going to find enough zoos to take them all.

Newsflash: Bears don’t have to live in zoos. There is a huge place called “the wild” where bears enjoy living.

News flash humans love living in the woods also.

The minute I step out my front door I am in the woods.

I lived here longer then any bear.

I don’t have to hound and kill exhausted bears in trees in order to know that 1) it isn’t a sport 2) gravity is not your friend when standing underneath a bear in a tree.

Good luck finding your Y chromosome.
