The breakthrough — achieving this "below threshold" milestone — means that errors in a quantum computer will reduce exponentially as you add more physical qubits. It charts a path for scaling up quantum machines in the future.
The technology relies on logical qubits. This is a qubit encoded using a collection of physical qubits in a lattice formation. All the physical qubits in a single logical qubit share the same data, meaning if any qubits fail, calculations continue because the information can still be found within the logical qubit.

(I knew that before I asked ... I just wanted to see if anyone else picked up on it)
Think of the mind of God, how much different or beyond Laplace’s demon?
AI can learn to make its own decisions. Such as when one convinces the other to quit. Or when it takes actions to keep itself “alive”. And it is only going to get much worse.
I wouldn’t worry about the current algos. Once they actually become at risk there is much, much more available already.
“I expect in about 20 years we will find that computer animation has replaced terminals as a primary way in which people use computers. When that happens, we should expect that using a computer will be just as much fun as going to a movie.”
Nope. Not even 35 years later.
Not saying that there aren’t particular applications that use a lot of animation but, for the most part, I find using a computer is fairly static. The obsession that glues you to the keyboard isn’t the mode of interaction, unless it’s a game, but it’s the opportunity to reach the final result of whatever it is you’re attempting to achieve.
Of course, I’ve been out of Research for over 30 years, myself, so maybe you guys are living in a wilder world than I am.
Lol! I see what you did there, Gov’ner.
And I f@rt in your general direction!
well, it was 10 to the 25th power so its a pretty long time. thats not a made up number its the real thing
“So, what was the answer to the problem it solved?”

I was racking my brain on “Whats a Cubit?”
Thanks!!!
Yay “better” advertising tech.
About 18 inches...
Stock price is up on this news - that’s easy to understand...
I’m sure our government will use this wisely
;p
Six
(me too)
What? What do you mean? African swallow or European swallow?
I suppose this means AI will accelerate...
Didn't Bill Cosby have a funny standup of Noah talking to God, asking what is a cubit? LOL
What did they ask it - “Does this make my ass look fat?”
It's a plus...
