I’m sure Jefferson recognized Hamilton for the danger he presented to the republic with his penchant for centralized banking, deficit spending and all the rest.
My understanding of that period of history is that he met Aaron Burr on the field of honor about 10 years too late to prevent the progressive disease Hamilton was spreading from infecting both chambers of government as well as the judiciary.
