I can’t understand why these parents would let their young kids go to such events. Neither do I. But it seems to be common.
The "Stage Mothers from Hell" are usually the ones who will not let their children go to these things alone and insist that their child is never alone with an adult backstage either.
There were a couple of child actors who had personal security on a movie and they had no idea why until, years later they found out one of the "stars" had a thing for young boys.
