7.0 earthquake rattles Northern California, Oregon
When northern California has large quakes it’s usually about a month before southern California has one the 1994 Northridge always reminds me of them.
Dear Santa I want money to move out of state.
Maybe California is seceding from the continent.
While a tsunami is certainly a possibility for a quake that size, a quake way-up-there ain’t gonna cause as much damage and death as one on the Hayward, San Andreas or Calaveras faults.
I hope the people in Ferndale, Fortuna etc. fared well.

If you would like more information about what’s happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me. Please send me your name by FReepmail if you want to be on this list. Indications are it was a strike slip event.
Not a subduction.
7.0 is big for a strike slip or side slip event.
Darn it.
Hmmmn. I just looked at the USGS earthquake site again. No such earthquake is displayed.
Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. But no such Mag 7 quake is displayed 2 minutes ago.
In the early 90’s I was supporting an Air Defense exercise at a small National Guard base just south of Astoria, OR. At the end of the exercise 2 B1’s overflew our command post breaking sound barrier.
A few miles south of us was the town of Seaside, when they heard the sonic booms they initiated their tsunami drill and evacuated the city.
Good time was had by all.
Area still rattling.
Earthquakes in the western Aleutians, too...
That’ll be the day I go back to Annandale
Oh no. William and Mary won’t do.
