Shocking surveillance footage obtained by DailyMail.com reveals the moment UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot dead outside Manhattan's Hilton Hotel.
Thompson, 50, was seen leaving the hotel at 6:45am on Wednesday, when a masked assailant draws out a gun with a silencer and shoots him in the back.
After Thompson, the head of America's largest health insurance company, stumbled away from the attacker, the gunman follows him and continues firing into the CEO as he hit the ground.
The gunman fled the scene and escaped into Central Park on a bike, with the NYPD releasing chilling images of the assassin to aid the search, along with a $10,000 reward.
Witnesses said the suspected gunman was seen waiting for some time outside the hotel before the shooting, and knew which door Thompson was going to emerge from before opening fire.
Several people were seen in the footage standing nearby when Thompson was hit, with one woman sprinting down the street after being just feet away from the tragedy.
Thompson was named UnitedHealthcare CEO in 2021 and earned a reported $10 million a year, and for several years prior he ran the Medicare business within UnitedHealthcare.
He was slated to speak at an investor meeting at the Hilton Hotel soon after the shooting. According to a release from United Healthcare on Tuesday, he would announce the company's hugely profitable 2025 financial outlook, including expected revenues upwards of $450 billion.
The suspect is at large, and is described as a white male wearing a cream-colored jacket, black face mask, black and white sneakers, and a grey backpack.

“I personally believe it was someone who lost a loved one for a denial of service claim but that is just my gut taking a WAG.”
My first thought too. Some loved one was denied life saving procedure or drug. Just has the feel of a revenge killing to me. Cold and calculated. Just like I’d do it... in my fantasies...
Going by his photos with Tim Waltz, big Democrat.
So probably dirty.
Probably a high capacity mag, too.
Impossible with their gun laws!
An absolute assassination! The use of the suppressor is the proof.
Whacked like Tommy from Goodfellas.
A real pro would have used a .22 revolver and gotten up much closer.
A suppressor still takes a lot of the sound out of a normal round.
I use a suppressor on a .308. It’s loud but I don’t have to use hearing protection.
Probably 40-60% of the “pow” sound gone.
“Hi T zone”... draw a line across the collar-bones down to about mid-abdomen... Center mass shots go there... And anchor shot is usually up close and to the head...
This guy practiced enough to be ON with the first shot... but after that... Not so much IMO...
Most problems involving Society as solved either through violence or the threat of violence.
If you think otherwise, try not paying your taxes...
What is one of the biggest “boogey man” on the radical Left?
Big Pharma.
Could just as easily be a radical Communist type.
He had a wife & two kids, according to dailymail.co.uk.
(Sidebar to main story)
Brian was terminated... with extreme prejudice.
Unlikely a pro. The gun would have been stolen and just dropped after closing to contact range. He also left brass at the scene.
“I don’t believe in solving problems through violence.”
Most violence is not about “solving problems”.
It is often revenge.
Example: Community or religious leader molests someone as a young person and they grow to be older and strong and skilled with weapons. There is no legal recourse available due to the person’s connection to law enforcement and/or the judicial system in the community.
Violence does not solve anything—but revenge would be understandable.
Because the gunman was there 5 minutes before the CEO exit the building leads me to believe it’s some sort of domestic dispute. Who else but someone close know his schedule?
Not that I’ve ever contemplated it seriously, but now that I let my mind go there I’d consider popping a Xanax myself if I was going to do something like that for that very reason.
I have suffered anxiety under certain situations, so if I was serious about being in that kind of stressful enviroment I’d take that into account. Also, if he was a pro, the homemade (appears) suppressor and weak ammo (subsonic I’d assume), he would have taken that into account IMHO or he certainly wouldn’t be a professional for long.
Someone mentioned it looked like a Beretta 92, and having extensive experience with those they are about as bulletproof a gun (no pun intended) as you could ever ask for.
I’ve put through one of mine thousands and thousands of rounds without ever having a single failure to feed or fire, but to be honest I buy good ammo and have never fired subsonic through her once.
He didn’t think he needed a bodyguard . Billionaire in Eric Adams Crime Town.
He chose poorly.
No bodyguard yet his wife blurts out to the press that there had been “threats” ?
Look into the wife’s phone calls, texts , travel.
I suspect she has a side piece.
The person he is meeting.
I’ll add my two cents. I have stayed at that hotel at least three times. It looks like to me the diagram showing the shooting taking place on the 6th avenue side is wrong. 6th avenue is very wide. I noticed in the background of one of the shots a parking sign. Also, they keep describing an alleyway as where the bicycle was used. I think the shooting took place on 54th street between the enntrance to the Centerpark West 54th Street Parking Garage and 6 and 1/2 avenue, this is the alley they keep talking about. Also, the video of the shooting on rumble showed that the pistol the assailant used failed to feed and had to be manually cycled at least once.
Watched the video 8-10 times.
Gunman knew he had to manually recycle the action. after the first shot he did not try to pull the trigger. He immediately moved to recycle.
Gunman did not care that a witness was standing nearby. Pretty certain his identity would not be compromised.
Gunman was not excited at all. Very calmly walked and recycled weapon.
Shot the guy at least 3 times. Possibly 4 but video was not very clear.
