Time doesn't freeze, but you might, 'cuz . . . da Polar Snore-tex gonna chill yer bones. OY!
Opt out of the cold. Come to the desert. Stay warm. Hibernate for the winter.

AZLiberty was the freeQ that suggested the book. He may have more insights as to her situation.

My insights from the Davies book and my own experience: Most chronic pain is due to muscles, not bones or nerves. Most muscle pain is due to "trigger points" or persistent localized microspasms in the muscles. Trigger points are typically remnants of muscle injuries (including prior surgeries) or the results of extended overuse. Trigger points aren't always where you think or feel they are: trigger points can produce "referred" pain and locations distant from the actual trigger point. (Davies provides maps of typical referral points.) Trigger points, being persistent spasms, can pull on other muscle fibers, producing additional trigger points. Trigger points can be relieved by massage or pressure -- see the book for advice on this.

I have had success with self-therapy for trigger points. I got rid of back pain by pressing on trigger points in the buttocks. I got rid of a frozen shoulder by identifying a network of trigger points that had been initiated by a shoulder injury, and eliminating all of them.

YMMV.

Happy New Year

Still around but not much time for lurking or posting.

They finally diagnosed my husband with Alzheimer’s and Lewy-Body with psychosis. He falls a lot. He has been in the emergency room twice for breaking his face when falling. One time was so bad that he broke 7 bones in his nose and was transferred by ambulance to UT in Knoxville. He’s on a dementia med and Risperidone, an anti-psychotic. We both had Covid in August. That was fun. I took IVM and felt fine, but it was harder on him. I didn’t have time to get pneumonia by taking to my bed. LOL We are covered up with doctor’s appointments. He sees his regular PCP, a neurologist, a cardiologist, and a pulmonologist. I’m having cataract surgery on both eyes this month. The Ophthalmologist wants to do them before John gets worse. They are still correctable with glasses right now but there will come a time he will get worse and I won’t be able to do them. Meyer and Cletus check on me. I do have two local volunteer firefighters on speed dial in case he falls and I can’t get him up. I think he has seizures, so they are checking on that. Busy, busy! Gotta go!

Oh no. You really have your hands full. I’m so very sorry to hear of your husband’s decline. That’s a tough diagnosis. I hope you have someone to help you out when your cataract surgery happens. It’s quick and painless but you still need rides to and from your appointments.

Please let us know how you’re doing when you can. There are people here who care to know that you’re well. At least you can take care of your family business knowing the country is in excellent hands now. One less thing to worry about for you. It’s so very nice to hear from you. Be well!

Hang in there, Mel-in-TN. And know that although you have undoubtedly family around, if y’all need anything, I’m about 45 minutes away, maybe an hour.

Snow is forecast for Friday, if you hadn’t seen - could be several inches, which in this area, is like the end of the world.

You’re on the old thread (festival), but I welcome hearing from you anyway.

Cataracts - I’m a good candidate for those myself. Keep tabs on the eyes these days with a good eye doctor, Doctor Quackenbush (I call him Doctor Q). Every 6 months, monitors for changes.

Thanks LL. My daughter lives next door and works from home so if I need somebody to stay with him, she can work from home at my house. If he’s able to get to the car, I take him with me. The meds help with the sundowning and hallucinations, but he still has really bad days. She can’t pick him up if I can’t get him up, but her husband is 300 pounds if he’s home. If not, I still have the firefighters.

I think Trump losing would have sent me over the edge. LOL

Thanks for the offer of help Meyer! So far I’m handling it. I get mad a lot and have to stay on the other end of the house some, but after I calm down I do better. I’m almost 20 years younger than he is so I do OK as long as my temper doesn’t overrule my good sense.

I was outside some yesterday doing snow prep. I wear a long-range baby monitor when I’m outside. I also have one dog that lets me know if he falls and I didn’t hear him. Actually, I have two monitors. One is video and it’s pointed at his room and the bathroom. The other one is audio only and I wear it while outside. I rarely get out of range of the monitors or talk to anyone with a normal mind. I’m trying to get through this with my sanity. I had to go to the doctor recently for help with my back. I had to take him and his wheelchair with me. I left him in the waiting room, in his wheelchair and it wasn’t long before a nurse wheeled him back to the room I was in because he was rolling around the waiting room calling people drug addicts. 😒🙄 He will stay with a sitter next time. Pushing his almost 200 pounds in a wheelchair messes with my back.

I’m off to get ready to take him for a VA doctor’s appointment.
