Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
It’s still cold here. But The Princess has gotten long so she doesn’t seem to mind. She was actually panting in the apartment yesterday. And she’s sleeping on the foor, which means everyplace else is too warm for her. We need to start shearing her and spinning her fur for sweaters or something.
M-I-L had a good night last night. Her signs that she’s near death wax and wane.
My Wordle score is nothing to write home about. I don’t know if I could have done better without that dumb mistake on guess 3.

Good morning. Cold here, too, though not by your standards.
Contortonist!
Good morning. I hope you slept well.
What are they studying in Envirothon, lately?
I knew I was tired last night but not getting up until almost 0700 is becoming the standard for me. I’m not sure if I like it, since I’m used to getting up two hours earlier.
Today, there are a few little jobs that have to be done, but I’ll get them done, eventually. None up them will take long...put the water up, do the dishes and maybe finish the street errands I didn’t get done yesterday.
Shearing the Princess Dog and spinning her fur is not an uncommon practice. My sister used to do that. She ordered her spinning wheel from New Zealand. She would then brush her miniature collie, spin his hair into wool yarn and dye it with Kool-Aid. I have a couple of things I made out of the dog hair yarn she sent me. Good stuff if you can do it!
Yes, the near-death times do wax and wane. Some days, they’re closer to the Other Side than they are to here. I’m sorry you and Mrs ArGee have to go through this again so soon.
Hang in there! We’re all here for you!
I understand that's not uncommon. Mrs. ArGee had an aunt an uncle who died within something like 10 weeks of each other.
People who have been married for upwards of 50+ years, have a tendency to pass on fairly close together. They evidently can’t bear to be separated for any length of time. So no, it’s not surprising. It’s very hard on those they leave behind, though.
Happy DFL Insurrection Day in the State of MN setting us up for a potential Civil War starting right here...
Oh... and this...

It is amazing how expensive meals outside of the home are... from ‘fast food’ to sit down restaurants... all very expensive...
Good Morning!
Late start for a variety of reasons... sigh...
Odd experience with the Wordle today... did the usual refreshes and got to the starting screen... put in my starter word and they all came up black... spent some time figuring on what would be word two, and when I tried to type it in, nothing would work... it was frozen... so I refreshed and got the starting screen again, put in my starter word and it came up with one green square this time...
So I continued along...

Puurrfect.
And feather duster cat is just quintessential feline; complete with the, “Doin’ the jobs da hoomans won’t do,” look.
Unlike down south, we’re not on fire up here by S.F. although “The City” is always full of its own type of “flames.”
We’re getting our January stint of very Spring-like weather; my sycamore thinks it’s time to start budding fresh leaves. The clear skies lead to lightly frosty windshields but nothing outright Arctic.
I went back to work Monday after taking some extended vacation. That is, if being out since Christmas Eve constitutes “extended.” Stated home. Had a merry, little Christmas. Got some nagging things organized. Created a little peace of mind in that respect.
Returning to the office, I estimate that, at the current rate, all traces of my vacation will burn off by next Wednesday. You’ve heard that, “You can’t go home, again.” Similarly, “You can’t really get away.” Vacation is like getting drunk: you get it all outta your mind for awhile, but — action/reaction — when you come out of it, there stands The Piper with his crooked smile and his bony hand out.
All part of the deal.
And — boy howdy — is anybody else’s 2025 BINGO card filling up like mine is? Exploding cyber truck, drive-thru terrorism, wind-driven infernos... and it actually looks like some Democrats might get held accountable...? Sure didn’t see THAT one coming...
Micky D’s has been experimenting with more value options and special offers to try to get customers back. Around here, the lines in the drive-thru have been getting longer.
I wouldn't count on that chicken hatching yet.
Great to see you again!
I’m very happy to know you survived the holidays and that you’re “back to business, as usual.” You’ve been missed, here.
Our weather has been the same for so long, I think it will be neverending. Since mid-October, it’s been 20-30° at night and 50-60° during the day. No massive rain storms, no snow on Pine Valley Mountain, and no ice storms. Just occasional destructive winds to break up the monotony of the same ol’ same ol’. *yawn* This is life in Boring, Utah.
I’m sorry to hear about SoCal burning again, but I can’t help but wonder when the Heads of the USFS in that part of the country will begin some actual preventive measures. It seems what didn’t burn in the last conflagration is going up in this one. Yikes.
My love to the family!!
Yeah. I wasn’t ready for the high cost, for sure. But the food was good! I’ll eat the rest of the burrito today!
They were studying Current Environmental Issues, like the aging and excessively fire-prone forest canopy.
I just finished writing a report on the Spanish Volunteers meeting from Monday night, and now I will go to Walmart with whoever gets in the car.
Yes, it seems the forests in this country have been badly mismanaged!
I need to make up a grocery list for Walmart and wish I could shop in person, like I used to. I get bummed out staying home all the time.
Make sure the neighbor’s kid knows where he’s going.
I hope that they all follow suit...
That makes a big difference...
