Is this like Rods from God? I thought we had that already. "Rods From God" were purely un-powered gravity-drop kinetic -- just huge shafts of tungsten, etc. No warhead attached. They were to be dropped from space. It was determined to be impractical and no, we don't have that already.
The Oreshnik is different in a few important ways. For example:
- It is powered, not gravity dropped.
- It can carry a warhead, possibly a nuclear one.
- It can be a MIRV, delivering multiple warheads

I thought we had that already.
Yes, but they all have "OUT OF ORDER" signs on them. We haven't been able to send anyone up to maintain them. We can't even rescue the stranded astronauts on the SS. (Meant as humor, true or not)
