Never saw Mike Pinera that I recall.

I saw Iron Butterfly in 1969 and missed Mike Pinera by a year but that’s OK. The original Iron Butterfly guitarist captured that In-a-gadda-da-vida vibe well.

May Mike RIP.

Mike Pinera used to be with a collection of old rockers called the Classic Rock All Stars. Used to do a lot of European touring. Saw Mike a few years in a row back in the late 90s at the fair in Roseville, CA. Even sold him and Jerry Corbetta some tie dye shirts...Ha! Those were the days. Of course I am still making and selling tie dye...

That was fun!

Oh, memories. That was our year in LA racing sports cars around the hills and playing songs like this on the radio at full volume.

I remember that song as a youngster.

Some people speculated that the song was about the crew of the USS Pueblo, seized by North Korea a few years earlier.

I don’t know if that’s true or not.

Died at the same age as number of keys on his keyboard when he wrote “Ride, Captain, Ride.”
