JUST IN: Trump Plans To Fire Jack Smith’s Entire Team ‘Within Two Seconds’

President-elect Trump plans to fire Jack Smith and his entire team from the Department of Justice “within two seconds” of taking office in January.

During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Trump was asked whether he intends to fire himself or fire Smith outright. Smith, who was appointed by Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland in 2022, has charged the president-elect with multiple felonies relating to his questioning of the 2020 election results. He also brought a separate case against Trump for mishandling classified documents, though the charges were thrown out by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon earlier this year.

“It’s so easy. I would fire him within two seconds,” Trump told Hewitt. “He’ll be one of the first things addressed.”

The Washington Post, citing sources close to the Trump transition team, soon reported on additional details concerning the president-elect’s plan for Smith and his team. “President-elect Donald Trump plans to fire the entire team that worked with special counsel Jack Smith to pursue two federal prosecutions against the former president, including career attorneys typically protected from political retribution,” the outlet reported.

Smith — who has the distinction of having one of his cases unanimously overturned by the Supreme Court — has largely operated in secret. His taxpayer-funded team was double the size of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team in the bogus Russian collusion investigation, which employed a dozen Democrat lawyers.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch previously filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the DOJ for records disclosing the names of Jack Smith’s team of lawyers and staffers. The Biden DOJ has since filed a motion with a federal court to keep the names of Smith’s team members secret.

Once Trump takes office, he will have the ability to fire Smith immediately, who has previously claimed that he intends to resign in order to avoid being terminated.“I don’t think they’ll impeach me if I fire Jack Smith,” Trump told Hewitt. “Jack Smith is a scoundrel.”

In addition to firing Smith’s team, the Trump DOJ intends to launch its own investigation into the 2020 election results and associated allegations of fraud. The president-elect’s new nominee for attorney general, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, has previously called for corrupt prosecutors to face prosecution themselves.

Make sure they do not obliterate their phones and laptops.

Also, to the extent possible, examine the January 6th Committee and its internal and external communications. I do not think we are done with Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger yet.

How about Trump doing something about no knock warrants or entry without warrants. How many times do we see 40 agents with drawn weapons, knocking down a door and rifling through everything in a house without even telling the person why they are doing it and by what authority?

Billy Jeff Clinton fired every US Attorney in every State. He did not want anyone who respected the rule of law investigating his lifetime of shenanigans.

Don’t fire them. Investigate, charge and convict them.

“ career attorneys typically protected from political retribution”

Clinton fired hundreds on day one. I think he did it preemptively, not for retribution per se but to ensure fealty from the replacements. Nevertheless it was definitely political in nature.

And Clinton had no mandate, winning only about 43% of the national vote.

I would be a bit surprised if they did resign. I think they want the talking point of Trump firing people who were investigating him. Doesn't matter to the MSM and the leftists that the charges were bogus. It's the message that matters to them, not the facts.

Same goes for the illegals. Most will stay put or go to a "safer" state or city rather than self-deport. Given how many illegals there are in the country, they probably figure the odds are on their side of not being forced out, at least not right away. Self-deporting means having to deal with their country of origin, which will be worse than anything that might happen to them in the US. A fair number of them may go down swinging here in the states.

Before Clinton it was customary for the new President to let US attorneys remain in office until their successor was ready. It was quite the shock when Clinton immediately fired the US attorneys immediately. I thought he didn’t want any existing or future Whitewater investigations to continue, but that was just my theory then.
