I always liked him; but he seems to have miserable luck in terms of physical accidents.

Was heading from a Hampton Inn (aka Hampton
By Hilton) to a restaurant next to it and
thought it was an easy walk down a hill.
He fell 60 feet. File under

I have climbed up and down hills and through streams a lot in my early days as a country boy and then in the Marines, but we all learn as we age things (balance, strength, sure footedness) don’t remain constant. My mind tells me I can still do what I did at 30, but my old body at 80 tells me not to try doing crazy stuff anymore. Jay will reach that realty sooner or later. I bet Jay has had second thoughts about what obviously seemed so easy taking a shortcut down a hill to the restaurant.

Judge Judy was once doing a slip-and-fall case. And she said something I thought was quite valuable: If you want to enjoy your senior years, the single most thing to do is NOT FALL.

To which I’d add: If you think you just might need a cane to avoid falling, don’t fool around. Get a cane.

It doesn’t have to be a plain, old-fashioned hook cane. Spend a bit more, and get something nice. But get a cane.

Jay is finding out what i did a year ago. At 73,74, one’s balance isn’t what it used to be.

I grew up scrambling on the rocks of an ocean jetty and did it regularly into my 60s. A year ago when doing a scramble, I fell 10 feet down. Fortunately it was on the inside not water side

Isn’t it interesting...most of the injuries are on the left side of the face?

Dust off all the old Jerry Ford jokes, and apply them to Dorky Jay.
