What a classy elegant car they put out back in the day. A guy in the town next to us was selling his old Jag, looked just like the one Inspector Morse had on his show. Like you said they do have their drawbacks, especially with oil and fuel lines.

Am currently reading the May, 1961, edition of Car and Driver, in which the XKE is introduced. It seems the company has gotten a little off track since then...

I helped a buddy adjust the clutch on his bosses early 1970s XKE.
It literally took us ALL day.
Those 12 cylinder Jags sure were pretty, BUT they were a nightmare to repair and keep running. Like all of those British Leyland products. They were all mechanical nightmares.
The electrical systems were the worst.
