In one of the Nat Lamp’s “True Facts” issues was a news clipping (they used reader-submitted clippings) about an archaeological dig, I think in Iceland. A small doll-like figure was found, seemed like a major discovery!
Then it was cleaned and proved to be a Stretch Armstrong.

Sounds like that guy who keeps sending things he digs up in his backyard to the Smithsonian.
I never figured out if the guy is bonkers or just having the time of his life reading their rejection letters.
Of course it could be both.
