If only these floors could talk.
Scientists are going gaga over the earliest inscription declaring “Jesus is God,” claiming that this 1,800-year-old engraving could change our understanding of Christianity.
The mosaic is “the greatest discovery since the Dead Sea Scrolls,” declared Carlos Campo, CEO of the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C., where the theologically significant relic has been housed since July, the Jewish News Syndicate (JNS) reported.
Dubbed the Meggido Mosaic, the 581-foot artifact was originally underneath a floor of the Meggido Prison in Israel in 2005, after which it was excavated in pieces by the Israel Antiquities Authority over the course of four years.
It had reportedly adorned a private chapel in 230 AD that was reportedly the “earliest known house of prayer,” according to Gil Lin, the head of the Megiddo Regional Council.
Inscribed on the mosaic are Greek words, “The god-loving Akeptous has offered the table to God Jesus Christ as a memorial. Lin described this as the “first physical proclamation of Jesus Christ as God,” the Daily Mail reported.
“The mosaic presents groundbreaking physical evidence of the practices and beliefs of early Christians, including the first archaeological instance of the phrase, ‘God Jesus Christ,’ seconded the exhibition’s curator Alegre Savariego.

The Roman Catholic church is full of relics, why is this so important?
The Christian Catechombs of Rome date back to the 2nd Century.
Catholic. Not Christian.
Well....They hav to study it....and study it...and study it...and like I’ve said many times....”Grant Money is Forever”.
Doesn’t change anything. It just confirms John 1:1.
For; people who need convincing that Jesus is exactly who he says he is, and insecure Christians that need reminding. MHO.
Two hundred thirty years? That is way after all that this article claims to be the first of had happened.
Absolutely!
My RC wife believed that Jesus was her Lord and Savior. Christian
My favorite verse. Codes in life proves its Truth.
The Fish....?
I’ll stick with the scriptures. Jesus confessed that he was (and still is) the Son of God. The apostles’ testimonies all say the same.
Jesus Christ repeatedly said that God the Father was in him, and that he was in the Father; showing us that God the Father is infinite and invisible. That fact was finally realized by ‘doubting’ Thomas when he saw the risen Christ.
The story of Joseph gives a wonderful type and shadow of the Godhead:
Joseph existed and had a father before coming to the promised land. Yet he is not shown interacting with his brothers AND wearing the coat of many colors UNTIL coming to the promised land with Jacob (who loved Joseph more than the others).
Joseph’s symbolic death included a type of burial (the pit), his outer covering stained with blood, his disappearance (to Egypt), his bloodstained coat being shown to Jacob (the resurrected Christ ascended to his Father).
Then we see Joseph given all authority of Egypt; a position a king would only give to a son. He was the presense and power of Pharaoh wherever he went, even his brother Judah said “..for thou art even as Pharaoh” (Gen. 44:18).
Jesus Christ will reign until all things are subdued unto him. 1 Cor. 15:24-28
Dead sea
Jeremiah toss that there?
“My RC wife believed that Jesus was her Lord and Savior. Christian”
And what sayest thou, dear sir?
Interesting, but not that big a revelation!
By 230 AD, we have lots of Christian writings (too many to list here), not just Bible, the catacombs, and even an alleged Christian emperor (Philip the Arab).
By that year, Christianity was so widespread (although still illegal or sublegal), that it justified massive persecution by Decius (the emperor who overthrew Philip).

Because it’s from 230 AD, only 200 years from Christ died.
It’s direct evidence against the “Jesus was a myth/Jesus never claimed to be God” people, who claim that Jesus’ divinity was invented by Christians centuries after his death.
There was an inscription in a tomb in Israel that said Jesus is an Egyptian. It caused a bit of a stir when it became public.
