the X-59 Quesst mission is poised to tackle one of aviation’s biggest challenges: making supersonic flight over land feasible again. Then I suppose they had better address leg room.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_X-3_Stiletto
The Douglas X-3 Stiletto is a 1950s United States experimental jet aircraft
Douglas designed the X-3 with the goal of a maximum speed of approximately 2,000 mph (3,200 km/h),[2] but it was seriously underpowered for this purpose and could not even exceed Mach 1 in level flight.[3

50 years later and it’s only 70% as fast as Concorde. Even Boom Technology’s Overture will only be 85% as fast as Concorde.

To: Red Badger; SunkenCiv
That silent sonic boom you just heard was from a Lockheed publicist hurriedly rewriting an advertisement for a NASA test plane.
Knowing Elon Musk will be looking at the next few NASA budgets.

but it relies on ancient parts to make it all happen. How about the A-10, 2.0?
