Yup. And sometimes partly because it just provided enough kids to even play. And nobody took it so seriously that they HAD to WIN at all costs.

I lived in a small town in NJ for a while as a kid, in a housing development off the main road. It was still out in the country so very li8ght traffic and so we played kickball or dodgeball in the street.
