The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered the recall of nearly 80,000 pounds of butter produced in Texas for Costco. The agency ordered the recall because the product packaging contained no “Contains Milk” allergy statement.
Food & Wine reported that the FDA issued a Class II recall on November 7 for 79,200 pounds of Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter (salted and unsalted). The FDA claimed the butter packaging lists “cream” as an ingredient but does not bear the “Contains Milk” allergy statement.
The New York Post posted on social media that the recall was based on the “dumbest possible reason.”

Our peanut butter has peanuts in it. I know because the warning is on the label. (Who knew?)
Well, if you were stupid enough to vote for Kamalooney then you probably don’t know where butter comes from or even milk for that matter. So that would make millions of people unaware that butter is made from milk. But that makes me think, if they are that stupid, they probably can’t read either, so why bother with a warning?
Toasters, ovens, stovetops, barbecues all have to have a “HOT SURFACE” label or some similar label all over them. Yet there are still people who will use a barbecue in a closed garage and light it with the hood down. Can’t fix stupid. But butter? Anyone who has an allergy to milk or is lactose intolerant knows about other products that contain milk, or they don’t know they have an issue with it. If you know you have an allergy, it’s because a doctor told you so from the results of a test, and you will be given a list of foods to avoid. So now we have the “Butter Nazis”.
we made butter in elementary school in 1967
lol yup cream cones for milk, did it not also say gluten free?😎
Why didn’t Costco just put some stickers on the butter packages that say “contains milk”. I have some of that butter in my fridge and I intend to use it. I’m smart enough to know that butter contains milk.
“What about Larks Vomit?”
Does the label say, “may contain larks?”
Love me some crunchy frog!
I saw that movie, “The Last Tango In Paris”, at a movie theater in Cleveland decades ago.
I hope Brando used unsalted butter...salt stings.
Hey Everyone!
You are welcome to dispose of your recalled Cosco butter at my house.
I’ll be baking Christmas pastries next week.
I don’t have any. The nearest Costco is over an hour away in a part of the state we have no reason to visit.
However, I hear there’s one being built near Concord, which we do get to on occasion.
