I grew up in a family where you had to name your source, which over time became unnecessary for a couple of us as time proved that we didn’t need to since we only used firm facts and numbers and it was never personal but like other people playing a card game or board game, we were all searching for information and a better shaping of our views and reasons for them, and open to any sincere discussion.
Ravers and nutters and the nasty emotional arguers have always been people to avoid, for their personalities and because there was no value in a relationship with them, it would never go anywhere, and never become that rich, rewarding, lifelong relationship of growth.

Agreed. I feel bad for people that haven’t managed to avoid them. I have an ex, now a good friend that, years back got involved with a nice lady that turned out to be bi-polar. It didn’t end well. There was nothing he could do to reason with her during the “bad episodes”. Gave new meaning to “nutters”, but I don’t think it ever got around to anything political. He is now reluctant (scared?) to get involved with someone again, I think. C’est la vie.
