This is a fascinating phenomenon. Liberals are so unhinged they are cutting long time friends and family out of their life because they voted for Trump. Not just the vehement, Trump flag waving, MAGA hat wearing supporters. Literally ANYONE who they found out voted for Trump.
Is this just a one way pathology? Has anyone here cut someone out of their life because they voted for Hillary, Biden or Harris? I can't even imagine doing this to a family member or especially one of my kids.
Not yet, but I can think of a couple of candidates.
I had a guy friend me on FB who was the brother of a classmate. He would spam me with anti-Trump stuff and I would spam him right back. It was actually fun but he was a bad alcoholic so not very good at it. He never got mad at me nor I at him. When Trump lost in 2020, he went into a bit of depression. He would half-heartedly send me stuff and I would counter with Biden dementia.
I would antagonize his friends by telling them I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016. Anti-Trumpers believe that anyone who even says anything half-way nice about Trump or against his detractors is a mindless inbred Trump worshipper. It made them furious that I was indifferent about Trump.
The “yeah, but...” method, while it may shut them up for a specific topic, it still validates their use of argument and drama as a means of control.
No. We have been cut out by others though. I miss the days of “agree to disagree”. Cutting folks out of your life just means that you no longer have a chance of any positive influence over them. Don’t be the one who snuffs out the candle.
Courtesan is even better, more accurate, than prostitute.
I think it’s more they have cut me out of their lives for not voting for the grifting communists. I’m not unhappy about it though.
We have relatives who normally host the family Thanksgiving—at least partially for logistical reasons that make sense.
They are hard core Democrats.
The last time we had lunch with them the crazy lefty guy started talking politics—for no reason.
It was immediately after the Democratic Politboro annointed Kamala.
He said “Everything is going to be just fine. We have Kamala now.”
The remark was so insane and stupid on so many levels—but I kept my mouth shut though an eye roll might have snuck in there by accident.
:-)
The issue is I am sure this guy is in a deep depression—not just because he suffers from an ongoing serious case of TDS—but because he has to deal with the fact that Kamala was a total failure as a candidate—and he did not see it coming.
We have radio silence on Thanksgiving so far—see if he recovers from his obvious deep depression.
“Ravers and nutters and the nasty emotional arguers have always been people to avoid, for their personalities and because there was no value in a relationship with them, it would never go anywhere, and never become that rich, rewarding, lifelong relationship of growth.”
Agreed. I feel bad for people that haven’t managed to avoid them. I have an ex, now a good friend that, years back got involved with a nice lady that turned out to be bi-polar. It didn’t end well. There was nothing he could do to reason with her during the “bad episodes”. Gave new meaning to “nutters”, but I don’t think it ever got around to anything political. He is now reluctant (scared?) to get involved with someone again, I think. C’est la vie.
Loss of all perspective and common sense. Too much emotion, not enough logic.
Ok, “courtesan with a law degree.”
Happy now?
😁
The key is to get them to answer to two of their two opposing beliefs. Green energy vs the working poor. Trans vs Muslims. Think of it as like a soft-on-crime liberal politician getting mugged.
There real issue is not Kamala, it’s Trump. Trump was supposed to be done. No more. Totally defeated. A felon, impeached, rapist, criminal. Instead, he mopped up the floor with their weak-azz candidate.
It’s a reckoning. That’s why they are so despondent. Think Hitler in the bunker waiting for the secret tank divisions and hearing they aren’t coming.
The other amusing part of that relative is he has been known to rant about Nazis everywhere marching all over the streets of our cities.
I have lived seven decades, traveled in almost all fifty states and almost every major city—and never seen one of these Nazis anywhere.
Where are they hiding?
Lol.
Yeah, that’s perfect. I wasn’t suggesting dropping the rest.
You could convince me to add “Low IQ” on the front end of all that.
Got some collectivist relatives. We treat them the same way we treat our interesting charismatic relatives. Polite, quiet, not showing any facial reaction.
My best friend of 30+ years got dumped by me in 2016. She became a huge Hitlery supporter, having married a raging soy boy liberal after her divorce. She was never like that before and we had a great relationship. Apparently, abortion was her go to, triggering issue and she accused me of having a “black heart” cuz I didn’t approve of killing babies. That was it. I was done. There’s no way I can “unify” with someone who just fell of the ledge to the point of rabidness. Many petty little “poke at me” things happened afterwards and I just never engaged.
I’m sure she’s found a new best friend that fits her murderous ways. I in no way miss her....she’s toxic to everyone except those who agree with her.
Yes, we cut 2 sisters and 3 nieces out if our will, specifically...not just politics...just evil, lying wenches
anyone I have known who votes democrat I completely wrote off in my life!! I am no way gonna make nice anymore with people who vote for the shit we just saw... absolutey Zero tolerance anymore!! period...
Last brother left...we avoid politics (or go nope, nope when getting too close.)
I cast a secret ballot. I don’t ask and I don’t tell
