Fox News cruised to an easy victory in the ratings battle for election night coverage, marking the second-straight time the network beat rivals CNN and MSNBC in viewership for presidential results.
Fox News reeled in 10.3 million viewers from 8 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, according to Nielsen data.
The ratings were more than double that of CNN, which finished behind MSNBC for the first time on a presidential election night.
MSNBC’s coverage, anchored by Rachel Maddow, averaged 6 million viewers, besting CNN’s 5.1 million viewers.

Fox News learned a lesson after the 2020 election, and has become predominantly pro-Trump.
Higher ratings are pretty typical for a big event as an election
I expect all 3 will see their ratings drop as the hub bub of the election is over.
But how much will CNN and (p)MSNBC fall off the table?? I suggest they will be lower than the dog’s dinner.
Fox News is also Fake News, despite calling this one right.
1. More states (49 + DC) swung in his direction vs. last election than anyone since 1992.
2. Best GOP showing w/ age 18-29 in 20 yrs, Black voters in 48 yrs, Hispanics in 52+ yrs.
3. Coattails: best GOP showing in House popular vote in prez year since 1928.
(((Harry Enten)))
Best GOP presidential candidate showing for ages.
And that is after,,how many....94 indictments?
I wonder where E Jeanne Carroll is right now.
Chuckle.
I watched MSDNC to see Maddow’s face - for the Schadenfreude. (The pleasurable feeling of seeing someone else’s unhappiness). But also I wanted to see how long it would take the loser networks to call the race (5:25 am for MSDNC). So a lot of the CNN MSDNC ratings were from people looking for any reason not to be sure Trump won and if not found able to sleep well...
I almost never watch CNN or MSNBC. I was watching both in search of liberal tears. What I saw was CNN was bordering on rational trying to figure out what was happening. MSNBC had no such tethers to reality. MSNBC is a lying bunch of communist scum.
You would think by now that one of the major news networks would ditch the liberalism and become more conservative to be a competitor to Fox News. And they better hurry because Newsmax is starting to take up that space already.
I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I cannot watch Fox News during the day. They do two minute snippets then followed by a solid five minutes worth of boring commercials. That’s stupid vegetable and fruit pills, new day mortgage, big Pharma commercials, debt relief and tax relief commercials. Good God they are so freaking boring!
I have a mute button at the ready.
Sorry, but on election night I added to both CNN’s and MSNBC’s viewer numbers.
I couldn’t help but watch their meltdowns...
I watched NewsMax and was satisfied with their coverage. They were the first network to declare Trump the winner.
Wonder how Scent Yogurt and the Young Turks handled thins.
I moved around throughout the evening. Like him or not, CNN’s John King is the best number cruncher at the big board. He has encyclopedic knowledge of voting history down to the county level all across the country.
Should have watched Real America’s Voice. Steve Bannon and John Solomon were great.
A Frenchy Kerry moment.
Faux News was against Trump before they were not against him.
In 2028 I’m sure Team Murdoch will be back pimping their first love, you know the guy, the one who wears lifts in his shoes thinking it will make appear taller that the short little dweeb he has always been.
If you add up all of the non MSM internet streams then they added up to a lot of people.
I watched Bongino’s live stream. Then I watched my dreams!
Nah, it’s because Fox is the only cable channel with wide distribution that isn’t totally way left of center. The other MSM networks all have to compete for the same half of the country so they slice up that pie while Fox gets almost all of the other half of voters (I know there are one or two others but they aren’t distributed as widely or as well known) watching TV. MSNBC is the most rabid of the left channels so it gets a larger share.
But some are calling this the podcast election. Millions upon millions are getting news from alt sources - right and left. But the market for left YT videos, while it exists, isn’t that much different from what you get on cable. Other alt YT and Podcast content is not just “right of center” but often not so ideological, is independent and ‘reasoned’ or thought provoking. It may be considered “right of center” but mostly because they don’t get pulled in by the legacy nonsense and chart their own course.
“What I saw was CNN was bordering on rational trying to figure out what was happening.”
I agree. Watched CNN for awhile after midnight. John King played it straight and was quite analytical … his truthiness had Tapper grimacing and at times almost speechless.
THAT was beautiful!
