Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe sparked a fierce backlash after making controversial remarks at a Trump rally in New York City, mocking Latino and Puerto Rican communities with statements that quickly spread on social media. (snip)
Following the incident, Minnesota Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, alongside Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, criticised Hinchcliffe's jokes during a livestream. Walz expressed frustration over the remarks, questioning the appropriateness of targeting U.S. territories and citizens. He highlighted Puerto Ricans' contributions to the U.S. military, and referenced Donald Trump's response to Hurricane Maria in 2017, a topic that has previously garnered criticism for insensitivity. Ocasio-Cortez echoed these sentiments, calling the comments "upsetting" and urging Latinos to recognise how such remarks could reflect societal perceptions of their community.
In response to the backlash, Hinchcliffe defended his set on social media, claiming that people "have no sense of humour" and arguing that his jokes were taken out of context to appear offensive. He insisted that he "loves Puerto Rico" and vacations there frequently. To further his point, he suggested that Walz "change his tampon," dismissing the outrage as an overreaction aimed at stifling comedic expression, according to his post on X (formerly Twitter).

More broadly, one network executive told features writer Charlotte Klein, “It’s going to change everything” if Trump wins. The exec said it could signify the complete failure of the news industry.
“If half the country has decided that Trump is qualified to be president, that means they’re not reading any of this media, and we’ve lost this audience completely. A Trump victory means mainstream media is dead in its current form,” they said.

Repeat the truth often enough, the message gets through.
As much as I didn’t approve of Hinchcliffe being there, I’m glad he’s not apologizing.
I will assume there are some conservative Puerto Ricans are they also “garbage”
Yes, and if they report on his response, the Tampon Tim appellation gets pasted one more time.
Tampon Tim trying to outwit an insult comic. Priceless!
He’s fine on Social Media, just not at a Trump Rally.
Hinchcliffe is skeevy. Let’s not have him back.
“Hinchcliffe is skeevy. Let’s not have him back.”
Agree. He was very cringe, and not that funny.
Why give the left ammo?
It’s not original in the slightest, though, and was a middle school joke before that clown was born. Conservatives must be better than that.
People only remember his speech about garbage — probably the worst line in that rally.
But he also had maybe the best line in that rally — that nobody remembers: Something like, “We vote on November 5th. God voted three months ago.”
It didn’t. They took it, made it worse, and gave Trump the photo-op of the decade.
Touche!
Get a grip.
He wasn’t funny.
My grip’s just fine, preacher.
My neighbor was a lifer in The Army. He mentioned that Puerto Ricans were some of his best troops.
As the liberals love to say, "Shut Up, He Explained!"
This whole controversy is media created. It was a joke by a comedian. He didn’t call Puerto Ricans garbage, he called the island garbage, which it is. Anyone who accepts the premise is falling for another media hoax.

Soros paid him.
Soros paid him.
Fools and their money, then.
