Perhaps it did not lower the risk because Cholesterol and saturated fat are NOT bad, but necessary. It has been suggested that Medical Science has been wrong about this for a long time. You need Cholesterol to strenghten cell membranes, to create Vitamin D3, and to create CoQ1 which is converted to CoQ10 which is used by the cell to create energy. If you reduce something needed to make energy for the heart perhaps the risk of heart attack is greater?? This has been an issue with Statin drugs, they suppress your CoQ10 and you feel tired and terrible.
