I suspect Trump is appointing him to provoke the hard anti- Trump DOJ Lawyers to leave before they are fired. I also hope that he takes up the Quo-Warrento issue of the irregular appointment of Citizen-at-large Jack Smith Esq., and of the earlier Mueller appointment. Would be good to allow the appeal or reversal of any and all of the plead outs and convictions that resulted .

I can almost guarantee you that there’s a replacement for Gaetz in the wings, and he/she is already picked out. Given the location, maybe it’s Catturd! Just kidding on that last part.
But optics during the early part of the campaign portrayed Trump and DeSantis as non-friends. I think they are friends, they have similar motives, and they have bee in communication since well before the primary.
Florida has both Rubio and Gaetz covered. IIRC, Rubio’s replacement can be appointed. Someone earlier said “what if it’s DeSantis?”. Now that would be acceptable, though I’m not sure how much of his governorship he still has. He has been a terrific governor.
