I feel so blessed living in rural Alabama. Not by chance but by choice. Retired 10 years ago and made it a point to live where I can be without the fear of mobs looting and burning. I left the Houston area where I made a good living during my working years, wife and I are now very happy living on the side of as mountain in our cabin.

FR has had Prepper threads for a long time. I think we still have them.

The suggestions can be good for all kinds of emergencies, not just civil unrest; and a lot of them just reflect what FEMA itself suggests.

Cat litter. As pocketdoor sayes, if the water pressure goes there is nothing to flush the toilet. So after that last flush, put 2 garbage bags in your toilet and a few scoops of cat litter. Every time you go, cover it with more litter, but do not allow the bags to get so heavy that you cannot lift them out of the toilet. Store them somewhere until you get garbage service back. I lived near Scranton. Not even anything like Philly.

You must leave. If you have something anything- that is desirable they will kill you for it.

That means a sandwich. Your preparation will place a target on you. They will come after you because you aren’t frightened.

By preparing for assault, you are encouraging assault.

There are all kinds of reasons that civil unrest might lead to disruptions in services. They don’t all suggest that someone’s going to invade your home and try to ‘kill you’.

People should reasonably prepare for all likely eventualities, and in the past Americans generally did.
