This will be the first election in which husband and I vote early by whatever means. I ADORE voting. Have since I was 16 and grandmother brought me into the booth with her to vote for whomever I wanted. (Republican, straight)
But this time I want to get my vote in and properly registered when there’s time to check that everything happened correctly. Then I don’t have to worry about a car accident or a broken bone happening to wreck my Big Day. Our votes will be in and safe tomorrow.
The wife and I stood in line 45 minutes this afternoon to get our votes in.
In 1956 I pulled the lever for Eisenhower. Mom had cast her vote, and she held me up so I could pull the lever.
A couple times I was the first in line at the polls and loved being asked to do the ritual of having the worker open the doors and so forth on the tabulator and certify that the machine was empty. Now, when in Rome, I’ll do what the Romans do. I dropped my ballot and my son’s at the county elections office today.
I think we may see a return to day-of voting of the democrats perceive that the republicans can gain an advantage under the present structures. Since all they care about is power, if early and mail
Voting ceases to serve their interests, they’ll drop it like a hot brick
