It would be instructive should the judge order that all the students of said teacher doing th history paper/project be subjected to a forensic search for AI material...not just the student in question. I believe it might be a revealing effort. If multiple students have used AI, then the question will come down to why this student was singled out but not the whole class!

My daughter teaches high school history. ChatGPT hadn't been out a week and her school was already seeing student's use it for homework.

My advice to her:

• Teach your students to use it well.
• Teach your students to use it to learn faster.
• Teach them to fact check the output, because of the halucinatory problem.
• Use it yourself as an aid in lesson planning.

  I sent her multiple videos on how to use it as an educator. And how students could use it.

It’s no different than being asked to take a math test for basic PEMDAS questions without a calculator.

You have to demonstrate YOUR ability to write. Having a computer spit out text is not your work.

I use AI every day to query information and to assist with written documents - but nobody is telling me not to and if they ask if I used AI I say, “OF COURSE!”.
