we used to make shakes with a raw egg, ice cream, milk and heavy cream- drank if for many years- never had any issues with it as far as we can tell, though maybe some of the ‘colds’ we got were really that we got sick from the raw egg- who knows=-
We even ate raw and under-cooked hamburger while cooking it (scrambled burger) in a fry pan- i won’t do that any longer though- too much ecoli these days-
I didn’t worry when I was young; but over the decades, food production has taken place on such a more massive scale than it used to be that I don’t trust quality control as much as I did when I was young.
You can pasteurize eggs at home, if you want to eat them raw or if a recipe calls for raw egg; it’s not hard or complicated to do.
(We used to be able to buy pasteurized eggs in the supermarket, but I haven’t seen them in years.)
Of course, cookie dough could be lethal.
