Some time in the past few years (I could look it up but I am lazy) they changed the way crime statistics were reported. They had been making the change for a while but in 2022 (I think) they completed the switch and if you did not report with the new system your numbers did not go in.

NYC, LA and any number of other big cities DID NOT SWITCH. They continued to report with the old systems and so their numbers were not included.

And there you go ladies and gentlemen.
