I believe .xpi are Mac (Apple) only.
If you are doing this on a Mac, I have no idea how that would work (to extract the folder).

Ok, I looked up that extension.. it is actually a different version of a ZIP file (learned something new!) that is specific to Mozilla Firefox.
"It stands for Cross-Platform Install ( XPInstall) and is essentially a ZIP file renamed with the .xpi extension."

It also says that you can change the .xpi to .zip and unzip it like normal. Then you can follow the instructions 😜

***********************************************************

I believe the originals were contained in zip files, if I remember right.

They need to be plain folders (the 2 folder in the unzipped file).

(ok, it's been awhile, so I hope I don't miss anything..)

After you choose developer mode on the upper right side of the screen,
click on the "Load Unpacked" on the upper left (making sure they are in folders, NOT zipped, and 1 at a time),
find the folder you want to install, and click on it.

Do the same for the next one, if you are going to install both.

That's it. 😃

P.S. If you are using Firefox, there may be a way to install it without unzipping the file(s), but I haven't used Firefox in a few years.

BTW, did you download from the link I gave, or another link?
Mine should NOT be .xpi, obviously..

Firefox gives me a message that the file is corrupt. I’ve been using FF for FR but I can easily start using Brave. I use both for different things along with Chrome, mostly for Google Earth.

Thanks again! I really appreciate it. I got spoiled using it for so many years.

For anyone reading this in the future, what worked for me is downloading the .xpi file into its own folder, renaming the .xpi file to .zip, opening and extracting it in that same folder, then opening Brave or Firefox extensions page, put it in developer mode temporarily (upper right corner), then click on “Load Unpacked” in the upper left corner, point it to the folder you made, then click okay or ‘select’. That’s it. Done.

Thank you Bikkuri for the tip on changing the .xpi file name to .zip. That made the difference plus the rest of the instructions.

Is Anyone Currently Using Cynwoody's FR Posting Form Enhancer and Tree Viewer with Firefox? (Vanity)

For years I've been using Cynwoody's Posting Form Enhancer and Tree Viewer extensions in Firefox to view and post comments on FreeRepublic. They have made the use of FreeRepublic so much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, a few days ago those extensions stopped working and Firefox now displays the following message for each of the extensions: "This extension could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled."

I'm curious whether anyone is currently successfully using those extensions and, if so, what version of Firefox is being used.

Didn’t work for me. The Greasemonkey extension requires a link to the original script page...which is dead....Jim. =;^)
